The Olympic Committe congratulates the Palestinian Sailing Federation's step toward organizing a sailing rally to Gaza from Cyprus to break the seige in Gaza.

The Palestinian Olympic Committee congratulates, in a meeting Tuesday morning, the steps the Palestinian Sailing Association toward organizing a sailing rally to Palestine from the port of Larnaca, Cyprus this summer, through organizing a saling trip to Gaza, joined by international sailors and Arab sailors, especailly those in the Mediteranean region.
President of the Palestinian Sailing Federation, Mahfouz Kabariti said in a letter to the Palestinian Olympic Committee, "Organizing this voyage aims at sending a message of solidarity with Gaza. This would be the first ever endeavor and a bright light of hope to open new frontiers for sailing boats to sail and break the sea blockade that has been imposed on the Gaza Strip by Israel."
Kabariti continues, "At this stage, this voyage will contribute to the support and to publicize the sport of sailing in Palestine. It reinforces the rights of the Palestinian people in their right to be able to practice sea sports in peace and freedom, and furthermore it will increase the connections between Palestinian sailors, Arab sailors, and the world."
Kabariti reafirms the Federations desire to purchase a sail boat so that it could be an ambassador for Palestine that would be used to sail and possibly enter many training and international competitions. While the Federation is trying to arrange for full participation with the Free Gaza Movement as well as International solidarity and would hope that sailing champions would join in on the voyage to Gaza from Cyprus by breaking the seige with ships and media coverage.

الأولمبية تبارك خطوة اتحاد الشراع بتنظيم رالى شراعي الى فلسطين من قبرص للمساهمة في كسر الحصار على غزة
غزة – محمد حجاج – 27/4/2009 - بارك المكتب التنفيذي للجنة الاولمبية الفلسطينية في اجتماعه صباح الثلاثاء خطوة اتحاد الشراع بتنيظم رالى شراعى الى فلسطين من ميناء لارنكا القبرصي صيف العام الحالى ، عبر تنظيم رحلة شراعية الى مدينة غزة بمشاركة بحارين وشراعيين دوليين من المتضامنين الدولين والأصدقاء العرب خاصة من دول البحر الابيض في الصيف القادم .
وقال محفوظ الكباريتي رئيس اتحاد الشراع في خطابه للجنة الاولمبية الفلسطينية : إن تنظيم هذه الرحلة يهدف الي رسالة تضامن مع غزة وسابقة هى الاولي من نوعها وبارقة امل لفتح افاق جديدة للقوارب الشراعية للابحار ومساهمة كبيرة بكسر الحصار البحري الظالم المفروض على قطاع غزة .
وأضاف الكباريتي ان هذه الرحلة ستسهم في دعم ونشر رياضة الشراع في فلسطين وهي تعبر وتؤكد على حق الشعب الفلسطيني بممارسة حقه في الابحار والرياضات البحرية بحرية وسلام ، ومن شانها ان تسهم في تعزيز روابط التعاون وتوثيق العلاقة بين البحارة الفلسطينين والاشقاء العرب والاجانب .
وأكد الكباريتي أن الاتحاد يسعى الى شراء قارب شراعي ليكون سفيراً لفلسطين للابحار ومشاركة العالم في المسابقات والبطولات والتدريب ، لافتا إلى أن الاتحاد يجري التنسيق الكامل مع حركة غزة الحرة ومتضامنين اجانب وابطال شراع مشهورين دوليين للمشاركة على ان يكون بلد التجمع والانطلاق من قبرص برفقة سفن كسر الحصار من حركة غزة الحرة وبتغطية اعلامية .
